Out of a commitment to provide all market participants with fluency in FIX, NYSE Technologies developed FIX Training. Whether you're an account manager, sales manager or IT team member, you'll get a comprehensive introduction to FIX in a one-day, on-site session. You'll receive a general overview, describing the history of FIX, its uses and insight into why it became the industry staple.

The course also covers different FIX message types, FIX engines, session layers, application layers, connection onboarding and certification processes -- as well as the latest developments, such as FIX 5.0 and FIX implementation of asset classes.

To ensure the knowledge you gain will be practical and not just theoretical, we tailor each session to address the regional challenges and asset classes relevant to your business model. For developer and IT teams already somewhat familiar with FIX, we also offer intermediate training. A deeper understanding of not just “how” but “why” FIX works will help you eliminate future roadblocks and empower you to innovate new solutions.

Even though NYSE Technologies supplies state-of-the-art FIX engines such as Appia and powerful, front-end platforms like TradeScope, our FIX Training is agnostic.   • FIX General Overview: What is FIX? Who created it? Why do we use it? Benefits of FIX.

  • FIX in Detail: Examine FIX message types, components, layers and business flows.

  • FIX Engine: What is a FIX engine? What does it do? How does it interact with the rest of the trading environment?

  • Session Layer: Definition of "session layer," as well as message types, operation and recovery in a FIX session.

  • Application Layer: Definition of "application layer," as well as messages, business flows, required and conditional fields and customization of messages.

  • Connection Onboarding and Certification: Adding new connections, hosted versus point-to-point connectivity, certification process and best practices.

  • What's New in FIX?: FIX 5.0, asset classes (Derivatives, FX, Fixed Income), allocations/confirmations.

Attendees receive copies of the slides, FIX field definitions list, FIXionary CD (FIX reference guide) and a certificate of completion.
