Trading in the dynamic arena of Asian markets presents new challenges as well as investment opportunities. Juggling multiple connections and divergent market data feeds can seriously tax a financial firm’s infrastructure and inhibit growth. Connectivity from Asia to Europe and the U.S. has traditionally been expensive, with long lead times and lacking fiber-route visibility.
Cost pressure has been an underlying theme within the financial markets for some time. This is compounded in Asia, where high connectivity prices act as a barrier to broader market access.
In the quest for alpha, firms need to diversify – to deploy their strategies on more venues than ever before. For many, this means connecting to exchanges outside of their traditional geographies. Additional infrastructure can be complex to manage, increasing exponentially as distances increase.
For the first time, traders, institutional investors, broker-dealers and market operators can directly access the security and resilience of the most trusted platform in the financial industry.
NYSE Technologies has invested in the underlying infrastructure by expanding the existing backbone to Asia, starting with Singapore and Tokyo, and then extending to Hong Kong. This shared infrastructure is significantly more cost effective than cross-continent point-to-point lines.
Consolidation and Simplification
Asian customers are now able to use SFTI Asia to trade NYSE European markets (subject to membership). Customers are also able to consolidate access to other Asian markets (for example, Singapore Exchange, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Osaka Securities Exchange) using the same SFTI infrastructure.
The SFTI global backbone links Asia with Europe and North America at gigabit speeds, enabling Asian customers to access the full NYSE Liffe market data in addition to other services from Europe and North America.
Open, Neutral and Transparent Connectivity
The SFTI Asia network is available via geographically diverse access centers located in Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Customers can select the access bandwidth to suit their needs and easily add services once connected to the SFTI backbone.
